SHEEP BULK HANDLER

To combat productivity losses ProWay has engineered the Sheep Bulk Handler.

The ‘Bulkie’ optimally positions and holds sheep, improving sheep handling efficiency and safety across most husbandry tasks.
They’re ideal for drenching, vaccinating, capsuling, mouthing, back lining, jetting and tagging.

Most handlers on the market today create more problems than they solve. Getting individual sheep to run into a handler, then catching and controlling them requires time and significant operator effort.

How It Works

Sheep are ushered into the race section of the handler in groups of 20-30 at a time, depending on their size and wool. The grated floor is then lifted hydraulically, with sheep being brought to waist height of the operator.

The sheep are suspended on their underside. Sheep become very passive as they are caught as a group, in a natural position. Similar to shearing, if sheep are held properly they become submissive.

  • Throughput levels are very high, as handling and filling times are quick and labour efficient.
  • Operator fatigue and need for physical strength are minimised.
  • Operators are physically separated from chemicals being applied by the sheeted sides, having minimal contact with the sheep.
  • Isolation from the animals also minimises injury risk for the operator.
  • Operators are far less likely to miss recalcitrant animals as sheep are unable to ‘tunnel’ and bury their heads.
  • Animals are more likely to receive the correct dose, or have treatment applied in the correct pattern as they are confined and well presented.

The ProWay Bulk Handler can be comfortably worked by one operator as it fills easily, and all sheep are accessible from one side.

12M Permanent Bulk Handler

  • Designed to maximise sheep husbandry efficiency, the 12M Permanent Bulk Handler is ideal for drenching, vaccinating, capsuling, back lining, jetting and tagging.
  • Sheep are ushered into the race section in groups of 20-30 (depending on size and wool). The grated floor is then lifted hydraulically, lifting sheep to a safe working height.
  • Sheep are safely suspended and become passive as a result of the natural positioning and are also unable to bury to their heads.
  • The fully sheeted sides separate the operator from chemicals whilst also minimising risk of injury to animal or operator.
  • Throughput levels are very high due to the fast filling time and ease in which treatments can be applied by one or more operator.
  • The 12M Permanent Bulk Handler is ideal for large scale producers.

6M Permanent Bulk Handler

  • Designed to maximise sheep husbandry efficiency, the 6M Permanent Bulk Handler is ideal for drenching, vaccinating, capsuling, back lining, jetting and tagging.

  • Sheep are ushered into the race section in groups of 15-20 (depending on size and wool). The grated floor is then lifted hydraulically, lifting sheep to a safe working height.
  • Sheep are safely suspended and become passive as a result of the natural positioning and are also unable to bury to their heads.
  • The fully sheeted sides separate the operator from chemicals whilst also minimising risk of injury to animal or operator.
  • Throughput levels are very high due to the fast filling time and ease in which treatments can be applied by one or more operator.

6M Contractor Bulk Handler

  • The 6.0M Contractor Bulk Handler has been developed for frequent transport and quick setup between multiple yard sites with very little setup required for use.
  • The twin axle chassis and walkway are permanently fixed while a fold down entrance ramp and sides quickly lock into place. Sheep, lambs or goats enter the Bulk Handler as a group and can be lifted to a comfortable working height for a variety of husbandry operations.
  • Like the Permanent range, the Contractor Bulk Handler safely suspends sheep who become passive as a result of the natural positioning, whilst also being unable to bury their heads.
  • The Handler can be easily used by one or more operators as it fills easily and all stock are accessible from either side.
  • The fully sheeted sides separate the operator from chemicals whilst also minimising risk of injury to animal or operator.
  • Throughput levels are very high due to fast filling times and ease in which treatments can be applied.

6M Mobile Bulk Handler

  • The 6.0M Mobile Bulk Handler has been developed for transport between multiple yard sites or in conjunction with portable yard facilities
  • The Mobile Sheep Bulk Handler is ideal for drenching, vaccinating, capsuling, mouthing, back lining, jetting and tagging.
  • Like the Permanent range, the Mobile Bulk Handler safely suspends sheep who become passive as a result of the natural positioning, whilst also being unable to bury their heads.
  • The Handler can be easily used by one or more operators as it fills easily and all stock are accessible from either side.
  • The fully sheeted sides separate the operator from chemicals whilst also minimising risk of injury to animal or operator.
